# The Shortlist Report

> Rankings of service firms by how often AI assistants actually recommend them,
> measured by asking the same buyer questions many times and counting the answers.

30 reports, 991 measured ChatGPT responses, 214 firms named. Last measured August 8, 2026.

Every figure is a count from a stated sample over a stated date range. A firm is counted
once per response, however many times that response names it. Share is responses naming
the firm divided by total responses in that sample — nothing is weighted, scored or
blended into an index.

Firms are grouped into tiers rather than ranked 1-to-N. A tier holds every firm the
sample cannot statistically separate from that tier's leader (McNemar's test at 95%).
Order within a tier is arbitrary; the counts are the finding, not the position.

Share measures visibility in AI answers, not quality of work. A capable firm that little
has been written about will score low, which is a fact about its visibility rather than a
verdict on its work.

No firm can pay to appear, to move up, or to be removed. There are no affiliate links and
no sponsored placements.
